Hi Friends! Welcome!

Thank you for stopping by! I am so excited for you to join me on this side of the interwebs! Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy!!

Hello!

I'm Helen Chalmers

  • Encompass Developer

I am a creator and an analytical thinker by nature which is why web development is so attractive to me. I love the process of writing code to create something new, solve a problem, or build a new platform. As a natural “helper”, having the know-how to create something that will bring ease into someone’s life or fundamentally change how they do things is truly rewarding. Since I am a “forever student”, I love that there is an endless supply of knowledge in the coding world. There is no shortage of problems to solve, and it is exciting to know the infinite amount of solutions that haven’t been discovered yet.

Built in React and Reactstrap, allows my group of friends, who religiously watched Survivor make predictions for who would be kicked off and receive an updated score as the season progresses. Use By is a collaborative project that was born out of the Nash Hackathon! Originally pitched by Angie Renfro, I had the honor of working on a team to deliver a MVP prototype. Use By allows a user to track the expiration dates of common foods and see their money waste when food gets thrown out. Use By is built in React.js and utilizes basic CSS for media query and Semantic UI for React. A simple JSON file with a flat datastructure is hosted off of a JSON server.
